North Coast 500

The NC500 is one of Scotland most popular tourist routes. It is 513 miles of mainly coastal to the north of Inverness. The Times has given it the title the fifth best driving route in the world. Most people take five days or more travelling along the circular route, which starts and ends in Inverness.

The NC500 is a showcase for the North Highlands and a great way to explore some of Scotland's finest natural beauty. Vdub will save you time searching for limited numbers of Hotel or B&B accommodation.

When travelling around the top section of the trip, we recommend that you stop off at John O'Groats, where you can jump on a speed boat and take in the amazing wildlife and coastline from the water. When continuing along the top of the country you will pass Ben Hope this is the most northly Munro, if you feeling fit it has spectacular views from the top out over Loch Hope and out to sea. continuing west you will pass Smoo Cave a large sea cave,  there are small boat tours inside this cave where you will see stalagmites and stalactites. At the NW corner of the route you will find Durness and Sandalwood Bay to two of my favourite white sand beaches, Cape Wrath is near here and has a lovely lighthouse café, and that’s just a taster as the west coast section is breath-taking and there are many more great places to take in on your adventure.

This interactive map and app highlight the key tourist attractions, and best places eat and stop and take in the views along the way: http://www.northcoast500.com/
